Just like math, reading, science, writing or history, P.E. is a subject that needs to be worked on outside of school. I do not assign daily or weekly homework, but skills learned in P.E. will be lost if they are not used outside of school. The Center for Disease Control recommends that elementary school-age children get no less than 60 minutes of activity daily. Here is a link to the CDC website where parents can learn more about helping their children get active: Physical Activity for Everyone
There are hundreds of ways you can be involved in helping your children get & stay active. Worst comes to worst, ask them how! In P.E. we are constantly going over new games and skills which many children enjoy beyond just the simple act of doing them. I know when I was young some of my happiest memories were of doing something physical with my parents like playing catch or going to the batting cages.
If you have an idea of what you'd like to do, but maybe you do not remember the basics feel free to ask me! The cues/hints I give the students apply to people of all ages and can help anyone get back into the swing of any sport. | ![]() |
